Weekend w Kornwalii - Minnack Theatre & Chun Castle/ Weekend in Cornwall - Minnack Theatre & Chun Castle

It's time to write about two (or even three!) more attractions during our trip to Cornwall. The Minnack Theatre is an amazing place from which you can admire the sea and the whole landscape. No wonder why the plays most often take place after the sunset, the spectators would risk to admire more the beauty of the sea than the actors. I wish I could see a play there! After having seen the theatre and staring with our eyes wide open at the beaches and the rocks, we went toward the Land's End, another important place in this part of Cornwall. Unfortunately, the fog defeated us. When we parked our car, we could barely see the entrance to the building. We knew that admiring the views were going to be impossible so we just continued our way.

And now careful, cause I am going to unleash my writing talent ;) I planned to visit Chun Castle. I guess it was the most "adventurous" part of the trip. Chun Castle exists on google map but not on Iphone maps. The GPS of our beloved Citroen Cactus didn't know either where we wanted to go. So we put all our hopes into google maps and bad reception. After having heard "you have reached you destination" for the third time and with clearly no destination around, we finally parked our car next to a tiny road and started walking toward Chun Castle. Google Maps was claiming that it was a 15-minute walk. Google maps didn't precise that the mysterious castle was on the top of a hill and the walk was finishing at the beginning of the path up! The fog all around was sending chills down my spine. At some point I lost the reception along with the hope that we would ever find this not touristic attraction. Fortunately, next to a house in the middle of nowhere, there was a sign indicating our destination! I started climbing out of curiosity. 5 min later, I was having a lake in my shoes so I reckoned that going back was pointless anyway. After around 20 min I reached the top. Chun castle is, with no offense, a pile of stones but in this snow white fog, you could smell some Celtic mystery in the air. After a couple of minutes the fog was gone (maybe after realizing that we didn't give up and it was useless to bother us anymore) and we were finally able to admire the Cornish countryside.
Totally soaked (even if it was not raining), we got back to the car and skipped everything else on our list in order to get to the hostel and dry our shoes. I can highly recommend the YHA in Penzance. We had an amazing room and the whole building was a well-kept attraction.

We headed to St Ives for a very late dinner but the town didn't impress me too much despite all the recommendations. But maybe I am biased because after 9pm the only dinner we could get was fish & chips...
