Magiczny Oksford - część 2/ Magical Oxford - part 2

Witam Was w lipcu kolejną porcją zdjęć z Oksfordu, przede wszystkim z reszty collegy, które udało mi się zwiedzić, a także ze spaceru po mieście, a potem do domu wzdłuż szlaku Tamizy (Thames path).
Jak zobaczycie na zdjęciach - jadalnie w collegach przypominają o wiele mniej magiczną Wielką Salę z Harry'ego Pottera - ale kolacje tam serwowane są całkiem wyjątkowe. Udało mi się uczestniczyć w jednej "oficjalnej kolacji" w University College i było to niezwykłe przeżycie. Studenci należący do collegu musieli nosić specjalne czarne szaty, na podwyższeniu znajdował się stół dla przewodzących collegem profesorów, odmówiono nawet modlitwę po łacinie... Jedzenie też było dobre i pięknie podane! Cieszę się, że mogłam w trakcie pobytu w czymś takim uczestniczyć.
 A Iffley Lock przy końcu wpisu to jedna ze stacji na specjalnym szlaku wzdłuż Tamizy - uwielbiam zaczynać tam bieganie. Zawsze z uśmiechem obserwuję dopraszające się o chleb gęsi (na pewno nie głodują, bo mnóstwo ludzi je dokarmia!), raz się zlitowałam i przyniosłam im dwie kromki chleba... I znalazłam dodatkową motywację na przyspieszenie, bo goniły mnie, chcąc więcej! :)

I am welcoming you in July with more pictures from Oxford, a lot taken in the colleges I managed to see inside and also from the walk around the city and then back home via Thames path through Iffley Lock.
As you will see on the pictures, the dining halls in the colleges look like less magical Great Hall in Harry Potter - but the dinners served in the halls are quite exceptional. I managed to attend a formal dinner in University College and that was an amazing experience. The students from the college had to wear special black gowns, there was a table on a platform for college direction, they even praied in Latin before the meal... The food was very good and looked beautifully on the plate. I am very glad I was able to take part of this event.
 And Iffley Lock at the end of the post is one of stops on Thames Path - I love running along this path. I always smile while watching geese begging everyone for food (they are for sure not hungry seeing how many people bring them food!), once I brought them two slices of bread... and found an extra motivation to run faster cause they started following me, asking for more! :)

Magiczny Oksford - część 1/ Magical Oxford - part 1

Trochę pospamuję zdjęciami z Oksfordu, ale warto je obejrzeć! Początek maja był niezwykły - kwitły drzewa, było ciepło (27 stopni!) i nie padało... aż tak bardzo. Szkoda, że czerwiec taki nie jest, właśnie się przeziębiłam przez tę szaloną pogodę :(
 Oksford to niezwykłe miejsce. Z pewnością szybko zobaczycie, że duża część Harry'ego Pottera była kręcona właśnie tutaj. Widząc jak bardzo J.K. Rowling przy opisywaniu Hogwartu inspirowała się panującym tu systemem collegów, nic dziwnego! Prócz Oksfordu, tylko Cambridge może pochwalić się tak starymi collegami.
  Przez pierwszą część możecie podziwiać moją drogę do pracy. A jest na co patrzeć, zwłaszcza, że mam dziesięć metrów do muzeum Historii Naturalnej :)
 Dysponuję lokalną kartą studencką (choć z adnotacją, że jestem tylko tymczasowo) i przy odpowiedniej osobie przy wejściu, można przemknąć się za darmo, by zobaczyć college od środka. Byłam zaskoczona! Wystarczy pokonać kilka metrów, by przejść z zatłoczonego i hałaśliwego centrum do spokojnego parku, dostępnego tylko dla wybrańców (lub dla tych, którzy zapłacą kilka funtów za wejście). Budynki sprawiają, że naprawdę można się poczuć jak w innej epoce!

I am going to spam you a little bit with pictures from Oxford but they are really worth seeing! The beginning of May was amazing - blossoms, good weather (27C!), no rain... at least not a lot of it. What a pity that June is not like this, I've just got sick because of the crazy weather! :(
 Oxford is an unique place. You would for sure quickly realize that most of Harry Potter movies were directed here. Knowing how much J.K. Rowling was inspired by the local colleges system while describing Hogwart, I am not surprised! Only Cambridge have such old colleges.
 On the first pictures, you can see my way to work. And it's pretty cool, especially that I am like 20 m from the Museum of Natural History :)
 I am an owner of a visiting student university card so if the person at the entrance is nice, it is possible to sneak inside some colleges and check them out. I was so suprised at the beginning. You just have to walk a few meters to separate yourself from the crowded and noisy city center and have a peaceful time in a park accessible only for the chosen ones (or the ones happy to pay a few pounds for the entrance). The buildings really make you feel like in another age!

Kilka ujęć z Oksfordu/ A few Oxford pictures

Ostatnio nie chce mi się za wiele (i to bynajmniej niedlatego, że jestem przywalona robotą), ale dwa tygodnie wybrałam się na mały spacer po Oksfordzie (bo pogoda była ładna, czyt. "nie padało") i cyknęłam kilka zdjęć. Oksford jest pięknym miastem, więc na pewno nie jest to ostatni post z tej serii! Podziwiajcie (i próbujcie wyobrazić sobie jak tu jest ładnie, gdy wychodzi słońce)!
PS. Tak, wiem, mam duży problem z nawiasami, uwielbiam wtrącać rzeczy na marginesie :)

I haven't been feeling like writing a lot on the blog lately (for sure it's not due to the work load) but two weeks ago I went for a walk around Oxford with my camera (the weather was nice i.e. it was not raining) and I took a few pictures. Oxford is a beautiful city so it is surely not the last post from this serie. Please, admire (and try to imagine how nice is the city when the sun comes out)!
PS. I know, I overuse the brackets but I love saying things "by the way" :)
